THE ONE MOST NEEDFUL THING!

While we were in secondary, school exam week always poses serious temptation to us. At that period, you are tempted to dodge the morning masses in order to use that period to study for the day's exam. Indeed, studying diligently in order to pass your exams is a noble thing to do, so also is going to Mass to pray so that God will grant you success in your exams. However, between these two choices one is the most needful or the better choice. Martha in Luke 10:38 was so busy with waiting on Christ that she forgot she was with the Lord, such opportunities does not always come. Mary chose to use that once in a lifetime opportunity to draw from the well of blessings Christ brought.
:
Sometimes in our lives we are so busy with the good and noble things that we forget the one most needful and better thing. We struggle with work and family life that we forget we need to take a moment and receive strength from God. Some of us have Christ in our midst but the worries of material things have denied us that opportunity to interact with him. Imagine someone kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament but his mind is away from God. Plagued by worries of how to better his life, he forgets to speak. Occupied with the thoughts of how someone will come and pray for him so that his life will change for good whereas he is kneeling before God.
:
Clearly some of us then dodged Morning Masses in order to study whilst forgetting his word to us:
"Cut off from me you can do nothing (John 15:5)"
The one most needful thing is "the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Mtt 6:33)" which we have been admonished to seek with all we have.
:
What have you placed above the kingdom of God in your life? Some persons have placed their work or business above God. That is the reason why some very rich people hardly have time for God. They go to church late and they leave early. As a student, it could be your studies that have denied you a moment with your Lord and Saviour.
:
"Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal…..For where your treasure is; there your heart will be also. (Matt. 6:19, 21) "

Be mindful of the one most needful thing and let your heart be on it.
:
MARY took that rare opportunity that was granted to her to listen to the word of God. May you always realize those times God is calling you to just sit and listen to him.

MARY took that period and kept Christ company because that was what he needed most at that time, a friend to talk to.
May you also realize those times friends and family are in need of someone to talk to, someone to pour out that inner most thoughts and provide it for them.
Remain abundantly Blessed.
