Saint of The Day: St Luke the Evangelist

Saint Of The Day: St. Luke the Evangelist ( Patron saint of Doctors, Surgeons, Artists & Students ) Luke was a native of Antioch, 1 of the 4 evangelists that wrote the Gospel. Wrote d Gospel of luke and acts which were originaly one piece of writing. He was an apostle of Paul. Luke was a Physician and an Artist. .... The church encourages us today to imitate and Pray through him today for God's grace.. frm Luke we Learn... . 1... Use of Talent.. Luke was a scholar and an artist this he used for the glory of God, this led him to the writing of the Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles addressed to Theophilus. As an Artist he was the first person to paint an Icon of The BVM and Child. You are encouraged to use your talent for the Glory of God . 2... Proclaimers of the Gospel... Luke was a Doctor but this didnt stop him from proclaiming the gospel. By Kerygma Christ call us all to proclaim the goodnews. This is summarised in today's Gospel Reading and Pope Francis's Missionary intention for this month of October " THAT THE CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD MISSION DAY MAY HELP CHRISTIANS REALIZE THAT THEY ARE NOT ONLY RECEIVERS BUT PROCLAIMERS OF GOD'S WORD. Lets us all proclaim the goodnews wherever we find ourselves, in what ever we do, we should remember we are his Ambassadors.. Christ in us.. . 3... Stick to him to the End... In today's first reading St. Paul said "only luke is with me" when everyone else deserted him and followed the world. Will Christ say that of us, that we sticked to his mother when everyone seems to despise her for no just cause, that we kept him company at the Blessed Sacrement even when we face challenges in our resolution....that we sticked to the one true body of christ, his church on earth at a time when people are erroneously detaching themselves from his church. Citing that Christianity comes from the heart, you don't need the church. . 4... Prayer ... Lukes account of the Agony at the Mount Olives shows that Christ "usually" go to the mount to pray. Always go to the Chapel to Pray, your Guardian Angel will come & strengthen you. 5.. Love ... Pope's General Intention for the month of October says' "that those feeling so crushed by life that they wish to end it may sense the nearness of God's love". We are encouraged to persevere in times of difficulties that his love for us in unquantifiable even as we show those that are seriously in despair his gentle, tender and loving care through our nearness to and concern for them. Only in Luke's Gospel do we find "Happy are you 'poor', the kingdom of God is yours. This shows his compassion & love for those he is better than. In Saint Luke’s Gospel we see a writer who focuses on the poor and oppressed, encouraging tenderness and compassion for the less fortunate. Luke emphasizes Christ's compassion for sinners and for those who suffer. Thank you, Remain Blessed -mcn<3 http://www.facebook.com/GeniusPalace
